This 4-hour class meets the State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance security officer requirements to carry an impact weapon on duty. A written exam on the impact weapon and use of force with a 70% grade are required to successfully complete. Deployment of the impact weapon and striking techniques are covered. Impact weapons will be provided for the training class.
See sections 8 and 9 of the below-listed state law. Persons carrying an impact weapon without being duly trained and certified are subject to arrest.
The Department of Commerce and Insurance can also fine the security officer and the employer for violations.
A state certification card is issued upon successful completion of the class.

(a) It is a defense to the application of § 39-17-1307 if the possession or carrying was:
(1) Of an unloaded rifle, shotgun or handgun not concealed on or about the person and the ammunition for the weapon was not in the immediate vicinity of the person or weapon;
(2) By a person authorized to possess or carry a firearm pursuant to § 39-17-1315 or § 39-17-1351;
(3) At the person's:
(A) Place of residence;
(B) Place of business; or
