Gun Change or Add a Gun
 For armed security guards who want to change their gun certification or add another gun to their Tennessee license.

Shotgun Certification Class
  • Tuition is $25.00
  • The Tennessee Armed Security Guard license is granted with the make, model and caliber of the gun that you certify with and carry.  However, Tennessee allows you to carry multiple types of guns as long as you qualify with each gun.
  • Therefore, if you want to change the gun on your license, or add a gun to your license, then you must qualify with those gun(s).
  • Eye/ear protection will be provided.
  • A good attitude with safety in mind.
You will receive:
  • Proof of training from USA Training Academy 
  • Your color photo from USA Training Academy

Your next step to get the license: (these steps are not necessary if you are just changing or adding a gun)

1.   Gather your application and documents.
  • Digital proof of training and color photo from USA Training Academy (we will email this to you). 
  • Digital Finger Print Receipt.  We scan this for you.
  • DD214 form if you have ever been in the military.
  • Court Clerk certified final disposition of any arrests.
  • Proof of Citizenship documents if you immigrated to the United States (such as a Green Card).
  • Your credit card or debit card.
2.   Upload all documents to the new online Tennessee Private Protective Services portal (https://core.tn.gov).   
  • If you have trouble using the online system, or if you don't have a computer/internet, you are welcome to make an appointment with us after you have completed your training, and you have gathered all of the additional items.  Call us at (901) 826-4764 to schedule the appointment.  We will assist you with your online application and document uploading.
  • The fee for this personal assistance is $25. 
  • You must have an e-mail address in order to register for the State’s new portal and a credit or debit card to pay your state fee.
3. Pay the state fees: 
  • Armed Guard License Fee ($105.00)
  • Digital Fingerprint Fee ($35.15) http://www.identogo.com/
